Art history for graduate students

At: Arkin Institute, Mumbai, On: October 1, 2017

Seeking to inform 18-year-old students preparing for a Bachelors in Architecture of the cultural contributions of tribal communities and contemporary artists, this workshop was constructed around works from Sarmaya’s collection. Siddhant Shah conducted the workshop with support from Sarmaya’s Research Associate Kamna Anand. The class was given a primer on tribal art forms like Madhubani and Gond, and introduced to the techniques and philosophies behind the creation of prints, maps and works by Modernist masters KH Ara and FN Souza.
