Tactile art experience

At: St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, On: January 12, 2018

This was a wholly experiential workshop to help participants appreciate art through senses other than sight. The workshop was attended by history and museology students from the college, as well as children from government schools. Using Sarmaya’s Tactile Braille Art kit and with support from Sarmaya’s Mitisha Mehta and Curatorial and Research Associate Shubhasree Purkayastha, access consultant Siddhant Shah introduced the class to the world of the differently abled. The participants were blindfolded and encouraged to touch and feel the art, as well as walk around the campus capturing photographs using their other senses.
