Tribal art workshop

At: A. H Wadia School by Abhyudaya, Mumbai, On: October 28, 2017

Using an innovative, unstructured approach, this program spoke to an audience of over 80 students of 7th and 9th grades. It was conducted by Siddhant Shah and supported by Sarmaya’s Experience and Outreach Associate Mitisha Mehta and Research Associate Kamna Anand. The students were introduced to indigenous Indian art forms, specifically Warli art from Maharashtra and Gond art from Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. The younger students were then given coaster-sized pieces of paper to make an ‘object of purpose’ using the Gond form of pattern making, while the older batch was asked to create artworks to raise awareness on social issues.
