S Chidambara Rao is a master craftsman and National Award-winning puppeteer from the Anantapur district and director of the Shadow Puppet Forum of Andhra Pradesh. Sarmaya’s collection has a sizable number of Tholu Bommalata puppets, mostly figures from the Ramayana including lesser-known characters from Ravana’s family. Rao and his troupe will bring them to life with a very special performance, including accompanying ballads.
