“Hinduism’s encounter with the West and Christianity is a fascinating story.” Historian and best-selling author Manu S Pillai launched his book, Gods, Guns & Missionaries: The Making of the Modern Hindu Identity, with a talk at the Sarmaya archive in Fort, Mumbai on 7 December, 2024.
Manu is the author of five books and a of the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar. He holds a PhD in history from King’s College London and has been writing in several national publications over the last ten years. His other books are: The Ivory Throne (2015), Rebel Sultans (2018), The Courtesan, the Mahatma & the Italian Brahmin (2019), and False Allies (2021).
