Desired Skills and Experience

  1. Detail-oriented, highly organized with a passion for Indian art and history.
  2. A Bachelors or/and Masters Degree in art history, history, museum studies or relevant field.
  3. Prefer candidates with 5-7 years of experience working in arts practice and research or have managed programming in an arts or humanities organisation.
  4. Aware of the current conversations around art, history and popular culture.
  5. Curiosity and drive to build innovative programming and engage with new audiences.
  6. Experience in creating art and history based content and organising events is a plus.
  7. Ability to network, build partnerships and collaborations.
  8. Excellent writing and public communication skills.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Build, implement and review an annual programming and engagement plan for Sarmaya events.
  2. Strengthen a network of collaborators and partners that compliment Sarmaya’s mission and take the collection to new audiences.
  3. Plan and lead and co-ordinate the organising of longstanding, successful Sarmaya properties like Sarmaya Talks, Saturdays at Sarmaya, Sarmaya Exhibitions and others.
  4. Ideate and plan all outreach and programming around a Sarmaya exhibition.
  5. Plan the Sarmaya Talks calendar in advance, building a list of speakers to speak on a diversity of subjects from Indian art, culture and history.
  6. Work closely with the design team on promotion and dissemination plans for all events.
  7. Contribute to the ongoing research of the Sarmaya collection.
  8.  Conduct research and writing for Sarmaya's planned programs and initiatives.
  9. Ideate and take the lead on new areas of collaboration and programming in both the digital and on ground space that Sarmaya should participate in.
  10. Work with the founder and team on special projects that Sarmaya undertakes in the space of artist collaborations.
  11. Monitor and evaluate audience engagement with programmes and projects.
  12. Put together reports and reviews on all projects and programmes.
