During our 2018 exhibition, ‘Portrait of a Nation, A Nation in Portraits’, we organised two workshops for children with special needs. On separate days, we welcomed students from two Mumbai schools: Santosh Institute for Mentally Challenged and Autistic Children and Anandi Special School. Siddhant Shah and the Sarmaya team guided the children through our exhibition and encouraged them to spot popular monuments from the Built Heritage section. They then worked on a collage by making cut-outs and colouring in black-and-white replicas of Sarmaya’s vintage photographs. It was a spirited and engaging workshop that drew out each child’s unique personality and skills.
