This Untitled work is part of a series showcasing Horizon lines by artist Aditi Singh (b.1976), made using Ink on Washi Paper in 2020.
The work showcases the horizon line of a city, which Singh explored by walking. The artist took meditative walks in Nepal, Sierra Nevada, the lake district of the UK, and more to expand her sense of awareness and imagination.
In response to the rhythms of nature, she created a meditative and reflective body of work using ink and paper. Singh uses paper with varying degrees of absorption and observes how the ink engages with them. Washi is one of the lightest and most absorbent papers. According to Singh, the paper showcases every mark that the ink leaves. These lines and movements draw the viewer to engage with the piece.
